Election results for Galveston County, Texas. A few comments:
- Early Voting. Most people I spoke to waited for hours to early vote for the entire week before the election, yet the lines Tuesday were non-existent. These numbers show why. Three quarters of the votes were from early voters.
- Why do over half the voters pick a straight party ticket? Sweet Jeebus, if you don't care about picking a candidate any more than casting your ballot for whatever knuckle dragging troglodyte, you don't deserve to keep your right to vote. Read a freakin' newspaper for once in your life.
- The Libertarian vote: Only 735 people voted for the Libertarian candidate for President, Bob Barr, yet on some other elections, the Lib candidate received around 3,000 votes. I can't imagine why anyone would vote Lib for state judge, but think their vote for president was just too important to blow on a 3rd party candidate. Then again, almost 400 voted a straight Lib ticket.
- A total of 12 poor, misguided souls voted for Cynthia McKinney for Pres-O-dent. Apparently punching a cop only qualifies you for President for 12 people.
- Even without an opponent, the Honorable Ron Paul received almost 55,000 votes, even after voting against federal money for Hurricane Ike. That's freakin' awesome!
- Parking was ample.
