49 out of the 50 states got snow this week.
There was snow on the ground in 49 states Friday. Hawaii was the holdout. It was the United States of Snow, thanks to an unusual combination of weather patterns that dusted the U.S., including the skyscrapers of Dallas, the peach trees of Atlanta and the Florida Panhandle, where hurricanes are more common than snowflakes.

More than two-thirds of the nation's land mass had snow on the ground when the day dawned, and then it snowed ever so slightly in Florida to make it 49 states out of 50.
You're letting me down, Mauna Kea. I'm tired of listening to mouth breathers say "what about global warming now, Al Gore?" While that's pretty dumb, it's even dumber to say that global warming makes the climate exceptionally cold, too. I saw this turd and I'm not buying it. if you take credit for record heat/drought, you can't claim record cold/snow. You can't invent data and have it both ways.

We all know Al Gore is not a scientist, and to me, that made him an unlikely champion for the cult of climate change. So what happens if the very scientists he relies on thinks he's taking his "drowned polar bear" message too far? Let's watch.
Mr Gore, speaking at the Copenhagen climate change summit, stated the latest research showed that the Arctic could be completely ice-free in five years.

In his speech, Mr Gore told the conference: “These figures are fresh. Some of the models suggest to Dr [Wieslav] Maslowski that there is a 75 per cent chance that the entire north polar ice cap, during the summer months, could be completely ice-free within five to seven years.”
Ah go on. . . .
However, the climatologist whose work Mr Gore was relying upon dropped the former Vice-President in the water with an icy blast.

“It’s unclear to me how this figure was arrived at,” Dr Maslowski said. “I would never try to estimate likelihood at anything as exact as this.”
Saying carbon dioxide may be a factor in global warming and that global warming may cause raising sea levels isn't nearly as polarizing as Gore making a movie saying your car's exhaust pipe is going to kill your grandmother. It's just hilarious, in spite of the sky-is-falling chicken littles at East Anglia that got caught fudging the number. When global warming's very own "Gore-Whore" says the data's not there to support such an imminent and disastrous outcome, how could that possibly give them a shred of credibility?

What the hell is Al Gore going to do if last decade of climate data goes against all he's been preaching?
But it is true. For the last 11 years we have not observed any increase in global temperatures.

And our climate models did not forecast it, even though man-made carbon dioxide, the gas thought to be responsible for warming our planet, has continued to rise.

So what on Earth is going on?
Perhaps distilling a million years of climate into 50 (or less) years of weather isn't as accurate as Al "Nobel Laureate" Gore would have us believe. Does that mean he has to give his million dollars back?

And now from the bureau of pulling things out of our butts, let's here it for "this is the worst time for hurricanes in 1,000 years."
Atlantic hurricanes have developed more frequently during the last decade than at any point in at least 1,000 years, a new analysis of historical storm activity suggests.

The new study, being published Thursday in Nature, attempts to reconstruct Atlantic hurricane activity back to the year A.D. 500. In doing so the authors found one era, a medieval period around A.D. 1000, when storm activity matched or exceeded recent hurricane seasons that included storms such as Katrina and Rita.
What does the NHC think about this?
“The paper comes to very erroneous conclusions because of using improper data and illogical techniques,” said Chris Landsea, science and operations officer at the National Hurricane Center.

In his criticism, Landsea notes that the paper begins by saying that Atlantic tropical activity has “reached anomalous levels over the past decade.”

“This isn't a small quibble,” he said. “It's the difference between a massive trend with doubling in the last 100 years, versus no trend.”
Don't confuse them with facts. They have converging models, and they got published. None of the hot-heads that are going to cite this study in order to justify CO2 based global warming are going to read past the executive summary, anyway.

From the department of "We're Making all this Shit Up", sea levels will swallow your dog by 2099.
Sea levels this century may rise several times higher than predictions made in 2007 that form the scientific foundation for policymakers today, the meeting heard.

In March 2007, the UN's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) concluded that global warming, if unchecked, would lead to a devastating amalgam of floods, drought, disease and extreme weather by the century end.

The world's oceans would creep up 18 to 59 centimetres (7 to 23 inches), enough to wipe out several small island nations, and wreak havoc for tens of millions living in low-lying deltas in east Asia, the Indian subcontinent and Africa.
Take a step back and open your mind real wide, E, and imagine, just imagine, what would happen if these dorks put their bald, pointy heads together and said, "naw, we're cool. Noting bad going to happen for at least 500 years." Where's the news then?

These fucking chicken littles get paid by the disaster, and all they have to do is predict it. It doesn't even have to come true.

As long as we're talking about "global" warming, isn't it time someone started measuring the temperature of our globe's oceans? Someone has.
Some 3,000 scientific robots that are plying the ocean have sent home a puzzling message. These diving instruments suggest that the oceans have not warmed up at all over the past four or five years. That could mean global warming has taken a breather. Or it could mean scientists aren't quite understanding what their robots are telling them.

This is puzzling in part because here on the surface of the Earth, the years since 2003 have been some of the hottest on record. But Josh Willis at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory says the oceans are what really matter when it comes to global warming.

In fact, 80 percent to 90 percent of global warming involves heating up ocean waters. They hold much more heat than the atmosphere can. So Willis has been studying the ocean with a fleet of robotic instruments called the Argo system. The buoys can dive 3,000 feet down and measure ocean temperature. Since the system was fully deployed in 2003, it has recorded no warming of the global oceans.
Robots. Always with the misleading robots. Well, water has about four times the heat capacity of air, so it's easy to see how an increase would take a lot longer to become measurable.

Who knows how this is going to play out, but I sure hope Al Gore lives long enough to see how wrong he was. Or at least long enough to have to give up his gas guzzling limo.

Interesting video, by BBC4 no less, saying human created CO2 and global warming might be politically motivated.

Ida know, dude, but if you believe that your Honda doesn’t contribute to global warming while listening to NPR, you're a freakin' hypocritical idiot.

Gore pleads to congress for attention to global warming with his worst analogy ever.
Gore insisted that the link is beyond dispute and is the source of broad agreement in the scientific community.

"The planet has a fever," Gore said. "If your baby has a fever, you go to the doctor. If the doctor says you need to intervene here, you don't say, `Well, I read a science fiction novel that told me it's not a problem.' If the crib's on fire, you don't speculate that the baby is flame retardant. You take action."
Let's say I agree with Al Gore (I don’t) that global warming is the single biggest threat to mankind in the 21st centry. Would somoene please get Al Gore to shut his fucking pie hole about it so someone with less tainted credibility could give such a pressing issue the attention it deserves?

Glacial evidence in the past 100 years would indicate that something is up with the increasing global temperature, but is it really a slam dunk between human's use of fossil fuels and global warming? Now some scientists aren't so sure.
Scientists long have issued the warnings: The modern world's appetite for cars, air conditioning and cheap, fossil-fuel energy spews billions of tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, unnaturally warming the world.

Yet, it took the dramatic images of a hurricane overtaking New Orleans and searing heat last summer to finally trigger widespread public concern on the issue of global warming.
Someone please explain the connection between green-house gasses and Katrina? I know many people would love to make the connection, but they're all equally full of shit, and if we caused Katrina, why were there only five hurricanes in the Atlantic in 2006, and only one of which made landfall in North America? Hell, look at the hurricane tracks all the way back to 1851. For every 1886, there's a 1883. 2005's snapshot in time is supposed to be incontrovertible evidence that this is man-made? That's horseshit. But it goes on:
In their efforts to capture the public's attention, then, have climate scientists oversold global warming? It's probably not a majority view, but a few climate scientists are beginning to question whether some dire predictions push the science too far.

"Some of us are wondering if we have created a monster," says Kevin Vranes, a climate scientist at the University of Colorado.
Well that government grant money ain't free, and you don't get a check to cash by disagreeing with the status quo.
For example, last summer, Ralph Cicerone, president of the National Academy of Sciences, told the U.S. House Committee on Energy and Commerce: "I think we understand the mechanisms of CO2 and climate better than we do of what causes lung cancer. ... In fact, it is fair to say that global warming may be the most carefully and fully studied scientific topic in human history."

Vranes says, "When I hear things like that, I go crazy."
Is it guilt? Are they just trying to retain what's left of their credibility? Who knows. But I've got a stack of Newsweek and Time articles from the 1970s espousing the future destruction of the planet from global cooling that I'd love to post as soon as I find the time. And a scanner.

To shamelessly promote his global warming movie, Al Gore enlists the help of a bunch of people that think Adam and Eve rode dinosaurs to church.
An unlikely evangelist showed up in more than 20 Houston churches last week — former Vice President Al Gore.

Gore didn't preach the gospel, he preached green. As part of a nationwide campaign involving more than 1,000 churches, including 130 in Texas, the local churches showed Gore's global-warming film An Inconvenient Truth for free.

The viewings highlighted an unexpected and increasingly powerful movement: a banding together of scientists and religious scholars to raise public awareness about the role humans play in warming the world and to encourage action to reverse the trend.
Ok, whatever gets your message out. I think it's a stretch to use the phrases "Unitarian Universalist" in the same sentence with the word "church," must less "religious scholar," but whatever. This sentence, almost made me wet myself with laughter:
As recently as October 2005, televangelist Pat Robertson criticized the National Association of Evangelists for its global warming stance. But after a near-record hot summer last year, he changed his position.
Pat Robertson, our very own Christian Mullah may have more good intentions than sense (then again he may not), but this is just about single dumbest thing I've ever read regarding the global warming problem. He didn't believe in global warming before summer because, you know, it got hot. What an idiot. I never believed that tiny pickle shaped invisible demons made droplets of water fall from the sky until it started raining today. And whaddya know, it rained today! Who could argue with that logic?

Global warming, raising sea levels, bird flu, cats and dogs, living together, mass hysteria, blah blah blah.
Within the next century, hotter weather in Central Texas will lead to longer droughts, the amount of water making its way into the Edwards Aquifer will drop, crops may wither, and the tree line that divides lush East Texas and bone-dry West Texas — it now sits just along Interstate 35 — might push east. Austin, in short, could start looking a lot like San Angelo.
Maybe all the freaks and hippies will go back to Cali, then? I can dream, can't I?
Texas can expect "more heat waves, worse air quality, increased risk of disease, droughts, wildfires and coastal erosion," warned the report, titled "Fair Warning: Global Warming and the Lone Star State."
Heat waves? In Texas? Nooooooo!!!!
The report acknowledges that the scenarios it presents are "not a guaranteed list of date-certain predictions," and, indeed, the report is peppered with woulds, coulds, likelys and mays.
And lots of "We just pulled this out of our collective asses.
But the authors say that global warming itself has already begun, and climate change will not be stopped unless there is local and international action to curtail emission of greenhouse gases.
This is what I really love about people that pump out this drivel. They think that global warming is caused by a lack of legislation or funding.
The report paints a bleak picture of Texas' future, especially along its coastline. The sea level will rise, threatening low-lying communities along Texas' coast and destroying species that rely on coastal ecosystems. A 1-foot increase in sea levels would cover about 400 square miles of Texas coast, displacing many of the 1.6 million coastal county residents and flooding barrier islands, according to the report.
I invite these Leftist do-gooders to visit the Texas coast. From Bacliff to Port Aransas, the vast majority of coastal Texas is one giant turd, one that narrowly avoids getting flushed to the sea by a string of hurricanes each and every summer. Think how much classier Coastal Beeville and Port Katy would be? I for one am submitting the charter for the Alice Yacht Club right now.

But what's the big picture?
"West Texas will simply be drier than it is now, if that's possible," he said. "The tree line will simply move to the east." College Station will look like Austin, and Austin will look like cities to the west.

"Water will become increasingly expensive," he predicted. "But it doesn't mean the end of Austin: A lot of people live in Phoenix."
Oh my gawd, the sky is falling? We're all gonna die! Salamanders will die!! We've got to get the government to do something about this, and fast!!! But, if we don't, don't worry about being personally inconvenienced. They're be plenty of electricity for your A/C at your Lake Travis house, and gas for your SUV and water for your lawn. It works in Phoenix, right?

Self-serving Leftist crap and their narrow, unenlightened self-interests. How they amuse me so. Kinda goes with this cartoon.
